Your Fate: The Secret Power Guiding Your Life
Fate or destiny are notions everyone is familiar with. They are of ancient origin, defining the mysterious plan behind the events of our lives, or even the hand by which one is invisibly being guided.
In mythology, Fate is often personified by the Moirai – the Greek goddesses who spin, measure, and cut the thread of each human life. Such images have survived for thousands of years because they speak to something deeply felt: that our lives unfold according to a secret order beyond our understanding.
Carl Jung approached fate in a psychological way. For him, what we call "fate" is often the unfolding of unconscious patterns and complexes in our personal life. When parts of the psyche remain unintegrated, they manifest outwardly as if life itself is orchestrating certain events or challenges.
In this sense, what appears as fate is frequently our own shadow at work – the hidden aspects of ourselves projected onto people and situations around us. Life then brings us repeating encounters, conflicts, or synchronistic events, each carrying a message from the unconscious asking to be recognised.
“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.” — Carl Gustav Jung
Jung did not deny the reality of fate as a metaphysical principle. However, he showed that much of what we attribute to external destiny is, in fact, our inner life seeking wholeness. Recognising this transforms us from passive victims of fate into active participants in the individuation process.
Thus, the secret power guiding your life is not something separate from you. It is your Self, working through the patterns of fate to bring you towards your true nature.
